Remove dust or lint with a blower (typically a small devicewith a rubber bulb attached to one end that is pumped to produce a streamof air out the other). To remove fingerprints or other stains that can not beremoved with a blower, wipe the lens or viewfinder with a soft cloth, usinga spiral motion that starts in the center of the lens and works out to theedges.MonitorRemove dust or lint with a blower. To remove fingerprints and other stains,clean the monitor with a soft, dry cloth, being careful not to apply pressure.Avoid contact with liquid crystalShould the monitor or electronic viewfinder break, care should be taken toavoid injury due to broken glass and to prevent the liquid crystal from thedisplay touching the skin or entering the eyes or mouth.BodyUse a blower to remove dust and lint, then wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.After using the camera at the beach or seaside, wipe off any sand or salt witha cloth lightly dampened with fresh water, then dry thoroughly.Do not use alcohol, thinner, or other volatile chemicals.Notes on the Monitor and Electronic Viewfinder• The monitor and electronic viewfinder may contain a few pixels that are always lit orthat do not light. This is a characteristic common to all TFT LCD displays, and doesnot indicate a malfunction. Images recorded using the product will not be affected.• When you frame bright subjects, vertical comet-like streaks that whiten toward eitherend may appear in the display. This phenomenon, known as “smear,” does not ap-pear in the final photograph and does not indicate a malfunction. Some smear mayappear in movies.• Images in the monitor may be difficult to see in a bright light.• The monitor is lit by an LED backlight. Should the monitor begin to dim or flicker,contact your Nikon service representative.
