116Shooting Options: The Shooting MenuShooting, Playback and Setup MenusE ISO SensitivitySensitivity is a measure of how quickly the camera reacts to light. The higher the sensitivity,the less light needed to make an exposure. Although a high ISO rating is suitable for shootingpictures of subjects in action or in poor lighting, high sensitivity is often associated with“noise” - randomly spaced, brightly colored pixels concentrated in dark parts of the image.At settings other than Auto, the current setting is displayed in the monitor (A8).If Auto is selected and the sensitivity is raised above ISO 64, the E icon will be displayed(A34). When High ISO sensitivity auto is selected V will be displayed, and U and themaximum ISO sensitivity value are displayed when Fixed range auto is selected.B Notes on ISO Sensitivity 3200 and 6400• When 3200 or 6400 is selected for ISO sensitivity, the image size will display in red duringshooting.• When ISO sensitivity is set to 3200 or 6400, Image size (A108) cannot be set toF 4000×3000, E 3264×2448, D 2592×1944, I 3984×2656, G 3968×2232 andH 2992×2992. At these image size settings, selecting 3200 or 6400 for ISO sensitivityautomatically switches the Image size setting to C 2048×1536. In D (manual) mode, sensitivity will be fixed at ISO64 if High ISO sensitivity auto is chosen.Fixed range autoChoose the range in which the camera automatically adjusts ISO sensitivity, from ISO64-100 (default setting), ISO 64-200 or ISO 64-400. The camera will not raisesensitivity beyond the maximum value in the selected range. Set the maximum valuefor ISO sensitivity for effective control over the amount of “grain” that appears inimages. In D (manual) mode, sensitivity will be fixed at ISO 64 if Fixed range autois chosen.64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400ISO Sensitivity will be locked at the specified value.
