90Shooting Options: The Shooting MenuShooting, Playback, and Setup MenusG AF Area ModeUse this option to determine where the camera focuses.When digital zoom is in effect, the camera will focus on the subject in the centerfocus area regardless of the applied AF area mode option.z Face priorityThe camera automatically detects and focuses on aface looking toward the camera (Shooting with FacePriority ➝ A 92). If the camera detects multiplefaces, the camera focuses on the face closest to thecamera.When shooting pictures of subjects other thanpeople, or framing a subject with which no face isrecognized, AF area mode will be set to Auto. Thecamera chooses the focus area (one of nine)containing the subject closest to the camera and focuses on the subject.w Auto (default setting)Camera automatically selects the focus area (one ofnine) containing the subject closest to the camera.Press the shutter-release button halfway to activatethe focus area.
