49Automatic Shooting of a Smiling FaceAutomatic Shooting of a Smiling FaceShooting in Smile ModeThe camera detects a smiling face to shoot the face automatically.1 Enter smile mode by pressing thee button in shooting mode,selecting a (use the rotary multiselector), and then pressing the kbutton.2 Frame a picture.• Point the camera at the subject.• When the camera detects a face looking toward thecamera, the focus area containing the face will bedisplayed with a yellow double border. The camerafocuses on the face framed by the double border. Thedouble border will glow green and focus will belocked.• When the camera detects more than one face, the closest face is framed by a doubleborder and the others by single borders. Up to three faces can be detected.3 The shutter is automatically released.• If the camera detects that the face framed by the double border is smiling, the shutteris automatically released.• When the shutter is released, automatic shooting, with which the camera detects asmiling face and releases the shutter automatically, will be performed repeatedly.• When the camera detects a face, the self-timer lamp (A 4) blinks. Immediately afterthe shutter is released with detection of a smiling face, the self-timer lamp flickers.4 Exit smile mode by pressing the e button.• Switch to another shooting mode.• The camera will stop shooting if the internal memory ormemory card becomes full.C Smile ModeThe auto off function (A 112) will be activated and the camera will turn off if no operations areperformed in any of the following situations in smile mode.• The camera is unable to detect one or more faces.• The camera has detected one or more faces, but is unable to detect a smiling face.Smile161616
