24First StepsInserting Memory CardsRecorded data are stored in the camera’s internal memory (approximately 20 MB)or on removable Secure Digital (SD) memory cards (available separately; A 158).If a memory card is inserted in the camera, data are automatically stored onthe memory card and data recorded to the memory card can be played back,deleted or transferred. Remove the memory card to store data in the internalmemory, or play back, delete or transfer data from the internal memory.1 Be sure that the power-on lamp and themonitor are off and open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover.Be sure to turn off the camera before opening thebattery-chamber/memory card slot cover.2 Insert the memory card.Slide the memory card in the correctorientation shown at right until it clicks intoplace.Close the battery-chamber/memory card slotcover.B Inserting Memory CardsInserting the memory card upside down or backwardscould damage the camera or the memory card. Be surethat the memory card is in the correct orientation.Removing Memory CardsBefore removing memory cards, close the slide cover toturn the camera off and be sure that the power-onlamp and monitor are off. Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover and press the card in (1) topartially eject the card. The card can then be removedby hand (2). Do not attempt to remove the card at anangle.• Note that the memory card may become hot duringuse; observe due caution when removing the memory card.
