10Final version 2/15/99Scroll keyYour phone has a scroll key located just below your display.It has two arrows on it that look like s and t. Press the scrollkey up or down to navigate through your phone’s menus andsubmenus. You can also use it to scroll through names andnumbers in your phone book.Also, when editing names and numbers (e.g. numbers in yourphone book), you may notice a cursor flashing within thename or number. Pressing the scroll key up or down movesthe cursor within the text, allowing you to insert letters,numbers, or special characters via the keypad.See “Entering text and numbers” on page 37 for more details.Scroll barWhen you access your phone’s menu and submenus,you will notice a scroll bar at the far right of thescreen. This bar indicates where you are in the menustructure; each “tab” on the bar represents a differentmenu item.For example, press Menu once. The scroll bar appears withthe first (top) tab displayed. A different tab appears eachtime you press the t or s key to move up and down throughthe menu structure. The scroll bar works the same way withsubmenus.Scrolling through the main menuPress Menu at the start screen. Then press t or s to reachthe desired menu item.Press Select, Options or OK (whichever appears) to entersubmenus and to choose options.Press Exit to exit the present menu or Back to go back onelevel.Menu & submenu numberingWhen you scroll to a menu or submenu, the menu number11Final version 2/15/99and/or submenu number appears on the display above thescroll bar. If you become familiar with these numbers, youcan use them as shortcuts for accessing different menus.For example, when you scroll to Menu 2 (Call log) the num-ber 2 appears in the top right-hand corner of the display. Ifyou scroll to menu 4 (Settings), submenu 3 (Security set-tings), your phone will display 4-3 in the top right-handcorner.See “Summary of Menu Items” on page 12 for a list of your phone’sfeatures along with their menu locations.Also, see “Using Shortcuts” on page 11.Using ShortcutsNow that you know about shortcuts, use them as a quick andeasy way to access a menu without having to scroll throughother menus.Press Menu, then menu number, then submenu number. Forexample, press Menu, then 2, then 2 again to access the di-aled calls feature (Menu 2-2).Press the menu and submenu numbers within a couple ofseconds of each other when using this method.For a summary of your phone’s menu structure, see “Summary of MenuItems” on page 12.Help TextIf you’re not sure how a feature works, wait just a few sec-onds and help text will automatically appear for most ofyour phone’s features. Press More to see the next page ofthe text or Back to exit the help text. After a while, the helptext will disappear by itself.
