Menu functions■ Messages(Menu 1)Text messages (SMS)Using the SMS (Short MessageService) your phone can send andreceive multi-part messages whichconsist of several ordinary textmessages (network service). Thismay affect the invoicing of themessages.You can also send and receive textmessages that contain pictures.Each message with a picturecomprises of several text messages.Therefore, this may affect theinvoicing of the messages.Before you can send any text orpicture message, you need to saveyour message centre number, see”Message settings” on page 32.The text messages function usesshared memory, see ”Sharedmemory” on page ix.Note: The picture messagefunction can be used only ifit is supported by yournetwork operator or serviceprovider. Only phones thatoffer picture messagefeatures can receive anddisplay picture messages.Writing and sending messagesThe number of available charactersand the current part number of amulti-part message are shown onthe top right of the display, forexample 120/2. Special (Unicode)characters, such as á, may take upmore space in the message thanother characters.1. Press Menu and select Messages,Text messages and Createmessage.2. Key in a message. See ”Writingtext” on page 14. You can selectan option to insert a picture ortext templates into the message.3. To send the message, press Sendor .4. Enter the recipient’s phonenumber or search for the phonenumber in Contacts and pressOK.
