Accidental short-circuiting can occurwhen a metallic object such as a coin, clip, or pen causes directconnection of the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the battery.(These look like metal strips on the battery.) This might happen, forexample, when you carry a spare battery in your pocket or purse.Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or theconnecting object.Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a closed car insummer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacity and lifetime ofthe battery. Always try to keep the battery between 15°C and 25°C (59°Fand 77°F). A device with a hot or cold battery may not work temporarily,even when the battery is fully charged. Battery performance isparticularly limited in temperatures well below freezing.Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode. Batteries mayalso explode if damaged. Dispose of batteries according to localregulations. Please recycle when possible. Do not dispose as householdwaste.■ Nokia battery authentication guidelinesAlways use original Nokia batteries for your safety. To check that youare getting an original Nokia battery, purchase it from an authorizedNokia dealer, look for the Nokia Original Enhancements logo on thepackaging, and inspect the hologram label using the following steps:Successful completion of the four steps is not a total assurance of theauthenticity of the battery. If you have any reason to believe that yourbattery is not an authentic original Nokia battery, you should refrainfrom using it, and take it to the nearest authorized Nokia service pointor dealer for assistance. Your authorized Nokia service point or dealerwill inspect the battery for authenticity. If authenticity cannot beverified, return the battery to the place of purchase.
