• WLAN network mode — Select Ad-hoc to createan ad hoc network, and to allow devices to send andreceive data directly; a WLAN access point device isnot needed. In an ad hoc network, all devices mustuse the same WLAN network name.• WLAN security mode — Select the encryptionused: WEP, 802.1x, or WPA/WPA2. (802.1x andWPA/WPA2 are not available for ad hoc networks.)If you select Open network, no encryption is used.The WEP, 802.1x, and WPA functions can be usedonly if the network supports them.• Use access point — Select After confirmation toset the device to ask for confirmation before theconnection using this access point is created orAutomatically to set the device to connect to thedestination using this access point automatically.To enter the settings for the selected security mode,select WLAN security settings.Advanced WLAN settingsSelect Options > Advanced settings and from thefollowing:• IPv4 settings — Enter the IP address of your device,the subnet IP address, the default gateway, and theIP addresses of the primary and secondary DNSservers. Contact your internet service provider forthese addresses.• IPv6 settings — Define the type of DNS address.• Ad-hoc channel (only for ad hoc networks) — Toenter a channel number (1-11) manually, select Userdefined.• Proxy server address — Enter the address for theproxy server.• Proxy port number — Enter the proxy portnumber.Packet data (GPRS) settingsSelect Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settings andConnection > Packet data.Your device supports packet data connections, such asGPRS in the GSM network. When you are using yourdevice in GSM and UMTS networks, it is possible to havemultiple data connections active at the same time;access points can share a data connection, and dataconnections remain active, for example, during voicecalls.To define the packet data settings, select Packet dataconnection and When available to register thedevice to the packet data network when you switch thedevice on in a supported network, or When needed toregister the device to a packet data network only whenan application or action attempts to establish a packetdata connection. This setting affects all access pointsfor packet data connections. To use the device as apacket data modem for your computer, select Accesspoint, and enter the access point name provided byyour service provider.
