GB 29The recording menuThis is the recording menu. You call up the menu to the screenby pressing the button marked “pad” (Personal Active Disc).The menu has to be visible before you can start a recording.Good to remember: You can always show and hide this menu bypressing the button.The menu will not be recorded.The symbols represent functions that are nor-mally handled with the arrow buttons on the remote control. Asthis is the most convenient way, only the button commands willbe explained in this manual.Locked functions during recordingMost functions are locked when a recording is in progress. It isnot possible to call up any other than the recording menu. If youtry, you will get the message “You can not do this as long as thedisk is active”. The only functions that are active during a record-ing in progress, except the different alternatives in the recordingmenu, are volume, mute and TV release.It is possible to watch another recorded program during a pauserecording.HARD DISK RECORDINGDifferent ways of making recordingsThere are three ways of making a recording. In this manual theyare separated in the following way:1 A Pause recordingThis function is useful when you make a break while watch-ing TV. We will describe how this function can be used whenyou get a phone call.2 A Normal recordingSpontaneously start a recording at any time you want. As youwill see, the procedure differs a bit from the Pause recording.Please try not to mix them, because if you do, it might lead tosome confusion.3 A Timer recordingUse the Timer function to record programmes automaticallywhen you are not at home.
