The camera hasseveral picture quality modes. Use the highest setting tomake sure that the camera produces the best picturequality available. Note however, that better picturequality requires more storage space. For multimediamessage (MMS) and e-mail attachments it may benecessary to use the smallest picture quality modeoptimised for MMS sending. You can define the quality inthe camera settings. See "Still image camerasettings", p. 68.BackgroundUse a simple background. For portraits and other pictureswith people, avoid having your subject in front of acluttered, complex background that may distractattention from the subject. Move the camera, or thesubject, when these conditions cannot be met. Move thecamera closer to the object to take clearer portraits.DepthWhen shooting landscapes and sceneries, add depth toyour pictures by placing objects in the foreground. If theforeground object is too close to the camera, it may beblurred.Lighting conditionsChanging the source, amount, and direction of light canchange photographs dramatically. Here are some typicallighting conditions:● Light source behind the subject. Avoid placing yoursubject in front of a strong light source. If the lightsource is behind the subject or visible in the display, the resulting picture may have weak contrast, may betoo dark, and may contain unwanted light effects.● Sidelit subject. Strong side light gives a dramatic effectbut may be too harsh, resulting in too much contrast.● Light source in front of the subject. Harsh sunlight maycause the subjects to squint their eyes. The contrastmay also be too high.● Optimal lighting is found in situations where there isplenty of diffused, soft light available, for example, ona bright, partially cloudy day or on a sunny day in theshadow of trees.© 2009 Nokia.
