To connect a compatible PC tothe home network, on the PC, you must install the HomeMedia Server software from the CD-ROM supplied withyour Nokia N80.After you have completed the necessary configurations inall devices connected to the network, you can start usingthe home network. See ‘View media files’, p. 34.The home network uses the security settings of thewireless LAN connection. Use the home network feature ina wireless LAN infrastructure network with a wireless LANaccess point device or a router and encryption enabled.Important: Always enable one of the availableencryption methods to increase the security of yourwireless LAN connection. Using encryption reduces therisk of unauthorize access to your data.To view or change the settings of the wireless LAN Internetaccess point in your Nokia N80, see ‘Access points’, p. 97.Important security informationWhen you configure your wireless LAN home network,enable an encryption method, first on your access pointdevice or router, then on the other compatible devices youintend to connect to your home network. Refer to thedocumentation of the devices. Keep any passcodes secretand in a safe place separate from the devices.To view or change the settings of the wireless LANInternet access point in your Nokia N80, see ‘Accesspoints’, p. 97.If you use the ad hoc operating mode to create a homenetwork with a compatible device, enable one of theencryption methods in WLAN security mode when youconfigure the Internet access point. This step reduces therisk of an unwanted party joining the ad hoc network.Your device notifies you if another device attempts toconnect to it and the home network. Do not acceptconnection requests from an unknown device.If you use wireless LAN in a network that does not haveencryption, switch off sharing Nokia N80 files to otherdevices, or do not share any private media files.
