All rights reserved.Connectivity76Remote SIM mode — To enable another device, such as acompatible car kit enhancement, to use the SIM card inyour device to connect to the network, select On.Remote SIM modeTo use the remote SIM mode with a compatible car kitenhancement, set Bluetooth connectivity on, and enablethe use of the remote SIM mode with your device. Beforethe mode can be activated, the two devices must bepaired and the pairing initiated from the other device.When pairing, use a 16-digit passcode, and set the otherdevice as authorized. See "Pair devices", on page 77.Activate the remote SIM mode from the other device.When the remote SIM mode is on in your Nokia device,Remote SIM is displayed in the standby mode. Theconnection to the wireless network is turned off, asindicated by in the signal strength indicator area, andyou cannot use SIM card services or features requiringcellular network coverage. However, a wireless LANconnection remains active during the remote SIM mode.When the wireless device is in the remote SIM mode, youcan only use a compatible connected enhancement, suchas a car kit, to make or receive calls. Your wireless devicewill not make any calls, except to the emergency numbersprogrammed into your device, while in this mode. To makecalls from your device, you must first leave the remoteSIM mode. If the device has been locked, enter the lockcode to unlock it first.To exit the remote SIM mode, press , and select Exitrem. SIM mode.Security tipsWhen you are not using Bluetooth connectivity, selectBluetooth > Off or My phone's visibility > Hidden. In thisway, you can better control who can find your device withBluetooth wireless technology, and connect to it.Do not pair with or accept connection requests from anunknown device. In this way, you can better protect yourdevice from harmful content.Send dataSeveral Bluetooth connections can be active at a time. Forexample, if you are connected to a headset, you can alsotransfer files to another compatible device at the sametime.Bluetooth connectivity indicators• When is shown in the standby mode, Bluetoothconnectivity is on.• When is blinking, your device is trying to connectwith another device.• When is shown continuously, data is beingtransmitted using Bluetooth connectivity.
