11HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORDThis product must be earthed. If it should malfunc-tion or break down, earthing provides a path of leastresistance for electric current to reduce the risk ofelectric shock. This product is equipped with a cordhaving an equipment-earthing conductor and an earth-ing plug.Two power cordsare included.Select the onethat will fit youroutlet. Refer todrawing 1, andplug the indicat-ed end of thepower cord intothe socket at theback of the ellip-tical exerciser.Refer to drawing2. Plug the powercord into anappropriate out-let that is proper-ly installed andearthed in accor-dance with alllocal codes andordinances. Note: In Italy, an adaptor (not includ-ed) must be used between the power cord and theoutlet. Important: The elliptical exerciser is notcompatible with GFCI-equipped outlets.If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced witha manufacturer-recommended power cord.Note: When the power cord is plugged in, the ellip-tical exerciser’s incline system may automaticallycalibrate itself. During the calibration process, twodashes (– –) will appear in the main display of theconsole, and the ramp will move to the highestposition and then return to the lowest position.The calibration process will last for one to twominutes.EXERCISING ON THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISERTo mount the elliptical exerciser, hold the handlebarsand step onto the pedal that is in the lowest position.Next, step onto the other pedal. Push the pedals untilthey begin to move with a continuous motion.To dismount the elliptical exerciser, wait until the ped-als come to a complete stop. The elliptical exerciserdoes not have a free wheel; the pedals will contin-ue to move until the flywheel stops. When the ped-als are stationary, step off the highest pedal first.Then, step off the lowest pedal.DANGER: Improper connection ofthe equipment-earthing conductor can resultin an increased risk of electric shock. Checkwith a qualified electrician or serviceman ifyou are in doubt as to whether the product isproperly earthed.
