The display willchange from one number to the other every fewseconds, as shown by the indicators below thedisplay. When you use the handgrip pulse sensoror the chest pulse sensor, the display will alsoshow your heart rate.Note: The consolecan display mea-surements such asweight and heightusing either thestandard system orthe metric system.To find which system is selected, you must selectthe console’s user mode. Hold down the ProgramSelect button for about three seconds. The letter“E” (for the standard or English system) or the let-ter “M” (for the metric system) will appear on theright side of the main display. To change the sys-tem, press the Resistance 10 button.Whilst the user mode is selected, press theiFIT.com button. The main display will then showthe total number of hours that the elliptical exer-ciser has been used. To exit the user mode, pressthe Program Select button again.Measure your heart rate if desired.To use the chest pulse sensor, see page 9. Touse the handgrip pulse sensor, follow the instruc-tions below. Note: If you wear the chest pulsesensor and hold the handgrip pulse sensor atthe same time, the console will not displayyour heart rate accurately.If there aresheets of plas-tic on themetal contactson the hand-grip pulse sen-sor, peel offthe plastic. Tomeasure yourheart rate, hold the contacts; your palms must beresting on the upper contacts, and your fingersmust be touching the lower contacts. Avoid mov-ing your hands.When your pulse isdetected, the HeartRate indicator abovethe right side of themain display will light,two dashes (– –) willappear in the maindisplay, and then your heart rate will be shown.For the most accurate heart rate reading, hold thecontacts for at least 15 seconds.Note: If you continue to hold the contacts, themain display will show your heart rate for up to30 seconds. The main display will then showyour heart rate along with the other modes.If your heart rate is not shown, make sure thatyour hands are positioned as described. Be care-ful not to move your hands excessively or tosqueeze the contacts too tightly. For optimal per-formance, clean the contacts using a soft cloth;never use alcohol, abrasives, or chemicals.Turn on the fan if desired.To turn on the fan, press the Fan button. Pivotthe fan to the desired angle. To turn on the fan athigh speed, press the Fan button a second time.To turn off the fan, press the Fan button a thirdtime.When you are finished exercising, theconsole will automatically turn off.If the pedals are not moved for several seconds,a tone will sound, the console will pause, and thetime will begin to flash in the main display.If the pedals are not moved for about five min-utes, the console will turn off and the main dis-play will be reset.765Contacts
