Hold the spacer (9) between the snapper (8) and the valvebracket (10).b. Install the flat washer (7) on the hex head screw (6).c. Insert the screw through the snapper, spacer and valve bracket.d. Use the lock washer (11) and nut (12) to secure the shiftermechanism (2) to the valve bracket.2. Assemble the ball stem (3), spring (4), and fork (5) as shown. Installthis assembly between the snapper (8) and the valve bracket (10).3. Coat the tip of the ball stem (3) with molybdenum disulfied.4. Place the gasket (15) on top of the air valve (1). Align the bolt holes.5. Install the shifter mechanism (2) on the air valve. Fit the pinprojecting from the crankshaft (16) into the pocket in the middle of thesnapper (8).6. Install the lock washers (14) and fillister head screws (13) into theair valve. Do not tighten the screws at this time.1. See Figure 7-2. Install the O-ring (11) and gaskets (10) into thebottom of the air valve (9).NOTE: Make sure the pin projecting from the air valve snapper makescontact with the shifter spool during pump operation.2. Install the air valve (9) to the pump. Tighten the fillister headscrews (7) securely.3. Use the screws (12 and 15) to attach the top cover plate (6) to thefront cover plate (14). Tighten the screws securely.4. Use the muffler box screws (3) and muffler box lock washers (4) toattach the muffler boxes (5) to the air valve (9). Tighten the screwssecurely.5. Use the screws (1) to install the muffler covers (2) on the mufflerboxes (5). Tighten the screws securely.Installation
