Remove the screws (20) and lock washers (21)securing the clamp ring (11) to the solvent chamber (1). Remove theclamp ring from the housing assembly.4. Place wrenches on the flats of the upper housing (10) and lowerhousing (15). Hold the upper housing and turn the lower housingcounterclockwise until the housings separate.5. Remove the plunger (2) from the housing assembly.6. Remove the ball and seat assembly from the plunger:a. Place a wrench on the flats of the plunger.b. Unscrew the seat (6) from the plunger.c. Remove the O-ring (5) from the seat. Discard the O-ring.d. If the ball (4) and cage (3) remain in the plunger, use needle-nosepliers to remove them.NOTE: The ball and seat wear together. Keep them together asa matched set.7. Remove the O-ring (9), upper packing (7), and wave springs (8) fromthe upper housing (10). Discard the O-ring, upper packing, and wavesprings.NOTE: Type-G packing gland (see Figure 7-16) does not have wavesprings.8. Remove the wave springs (12) and the lower packing (13) from theupper housing (10). Discard the lower packing and wave springs.NOTE: Type-G packing gland (see Figure 7-16) does not have wavesprings.9. Remove the O-ring (14) from the lower housing (15). Discard theO-ring.10. Remove the ball and seat assembly from the lower housing (15):a. Place a wrench on the flats of the lower housing (15).b. Unscrew the seat (19) from the lower housing (15).c. Remove the O-ring (18) from the seat. Discard the O-ring.d. If the ball (17) and ball guide (16) remain in the lowerhousing (15), use needle-nose pliers to remove them.NOTE: The ball and seat wear into each other.
