218 Nortel IP Softphone 2050Information display areaThe information display area can contain four lines of text, up to a maximumof twenty four characters for each line. The display area consists of 2 areas:Info line and Info window.Info lineThe Info Line is the first (top) line of display text. The left 10-characterarea shows the Call Server type. The right part of the Info Line shows thecurrent time and date.Info windowThe Info Window display area that shows prompts and information aboutcalls. During a call the information area is used to display dialed digits,calling line ID, called party name, application-specific information, andvarious messages such as Release and Try Again.When the information exceeds 3 x 24 characters, a scroll icon tells the userto press the scroll keys to view the second line of the display.Soft key label displayA maximum of 10 functions can be assigned to the soft keys. Functions areassigned to the soft keys in layers in LD 11.Use the More soft key to navigate through the layers of functions. If only4 functions are assigned to the soft keys, the More key does not appearand all four functions are displayed.The soft key label has a maximum of 7 characters. Each soft key includesthe soft key label and an icon. When a soft key is in use, a flashing icondisplays at the beginning of the soft key label, and the label shifts onecharacter to the right. (If the label is six characters in length, the last, orrightmost, character is truncated.) If a feature is enabled, the icon stateturns to ON. It remains in the ON state until the feature key is pressed again.This cancels the enabled feature and turns the icon off, returning the softkey label to its original state.System TrayThe System Tray provides fast access to most of the IP Softphone 2050functionality.
