Troubleshooting Novell Cluster Services 199novdocx (en) 7 January 201013.10 Problem Authenticating to Remote Serversduring Cluster ConfigurationDuring the Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES) 2 Linux cluster installation and configuration, ifyou choose Remote System on the Novell Cluster Services LDAP Configuration page and you haveLDAP configured to point to a NetWare® 6.0 or earlier NetWare server, the cluster configurationfails. To work around this problem, you must edit the /etc/openldap/ldap.conf file. Either disablecertificates (TLS_REQCERT line) or change the file that contains the certificates(TLS_CACERT line). See the ldap.conf man page for more information.13.11 Problem Connecting to an iSCSI TargetIf you are connecting to an iSCSI target that already has NSS partitions and pools created on it, youmight not be able to access those NSS partitions and pools until you either reboot the Linux initiatorserver or run the evms_activate command at the Linux terminal console. This is required for eachLinux initiator server that will access the iSCSI target. For instructions on configuring an OES 2 Linux server as an iSCSI initiator and connecting to aniSCSI target, go to “Mass Storage over IP Networks--iSCSI” (http://www.novell.com/documentation/sles10/sles_admin/data/cha_inst_system_iscsi.html) in the SUSE Linux EnterpriseServer 10 Administration Guide.13.12 Problem Deleting a Cluster Resource orClustered PoolIf you attempt to delete a cluster resource or clustered pool without first offlining the clusterresource, deletion errors occur, and the data associated with the clustered pool is not recoverable. To avoid this problem, offline the cluster resource before attempting to delete either the clusterresource or the clustered pool.13.13 Version IssuesKnowing the location and purpose of the files that make up Novell Cluster Services can be useful inhelping you troubleshoot problems and resolve version issues. For information, see Appendix B,“Files for Novell Cluster Services,” on page 209.13.14 Can’t Find the Prevent Cascading FailoverOptionNovell Cluster Services for NetWare provides a Preventing Cascading Failovers option. Its behaviorwas controlled using the clstrlib /hmo=off option in ldncs.ncf. Is there an equivalent optionfor Linux?Cascading failover prevention was not implemented for Linux because user space applications(cluster resources) typically cannot cause a kernel failure and cascade failure of other kernels due tofailing over user space code, as compared to ring0 NLMs on NetWare.
