Connecting the Allport to the Essentia Amplifier (Fig. 4)Once installed, the front of the Allport has three “Device”RJ45 jacks for CAT5 connections from the NuVoNet Suitecomponents, and an RJ45 jack labeled “NuVoNet” whichmust be connected to the “NuVoNet” input on the back ofthe Essentia amplifier. This is necessary for Control Padcommunication, regardless the use of the NuVoNet Suitecomponents. Once connected, the Control Pads are ready tocommunicate with the System. The Essentia System isshipped with a six-foot pre-terminated CAT5 network cable,or you can purchase or create one if a different length isrequired.The speaker connection is made with the 25-pin AllportCable. The modular speaker connectors must be plugged intothe appropriate speaker connections on the back of theAllport. Fig. 4VI. Attaching Audio Source Equipment (Fig. 5)Each piece of audio equipment is connected to the Essentiaamplifier with standard stereo RCA cables. Attach an RCAcable to the corresponding audio output on the sourceequipment and to the desired source input on the back ofthe Essentia amplifier. The numbered input for each sourceis important in the configuration of the system. This will becovered in detail in the Essentia Configurator portion of thismanual.Using the Fixed and Variable LineoutsThe Zone 1 and 2 outputs have 3.5mm stereo pre-amplineouts attached to them. Their purpose is to provide thezone’s current audio selection signal to an additionalamplifier. Both versions, fixed (a constant signal thatrequires a volume control separate from the NuVo zoneControl Pad) and variable (a signal that varies in levelrelative to the volume setting on the NuVo zone Control Pad)are both simultaneously active and require no externalswitch for use.Each output has an attached voltage trigger output thatallows the attached amplifier to be triggered from a voltagepresented when the zone Control Pad is turned on. Once the T2 is plugged in and the NuVoNet CAT5 isconnected to the Allport, the initial display, Unitialized StateDetected (Press OK) will appear. When the OK button istouched, the Tuner will prompt a regional tuning selection. Itwill then go to Tuner A, Standalone, Source 1, Source 2,Source 3, Source 4, Source 5, and Source 6. Stand Alone isautomatically highlighted at initial startup. Use the arrowsto scroll to the appropriate source number. When theselection is made, the T2 will go to the same selection forTuner B. When each output selection is complete, theEssentia System NuVoNet will recognize that source.STATUSNuVoNetRS2321 SUMALLPORT CONNECTIONIR OUTPUTS2 3 4 5 6 LINKMUTEALLPORT CONNECTIONSetting up NuVo Sources for use with NuVoNetA feature of the Essentia System is its ability toautomatically communicate with the T2 Tuners, Music Port,and the NuVoDocks for iPod. The communication happensthrough the Allport connection hub across a communicationprotocol called NuVoNet. Although software programming isnot necessary for this function, configuring the installationthrough the Configurator Software prior to installation hasdistinct advantages, see IX. Using the Essentia ConfiguratorSoftware, page 15.When the T2 Tuners are plugged in for the first time, theywill display a prompt to select a source input number for theEssentia. For NuVoNet to communicate properly, you shouldhave already connected the NuVoNet components to one ofthe three “Peripheral Device” inputs on the face of theAllport.
