MB280- 44 -Network FeaturesConnect your WLAN adaptorYour machine belongs to a new generation of terminalsthat you can incorporate into a WLAN network using aWLAN USB key.1 Plug your WLAN USB key into the USB port of yourmachine.Configure your networkCreating or rejoining a networkBefore attempting to use a WLAN adaptor on yourmachine, you must enter the parameters that will allow aWLAN network to recognise your machine.On your machine you will find simple instructionsthat guide you step by step through the set-up of yournetwork. Just follow them!! 281 - SETUP / WLAN / CONFIG. ASS.1 Type in !, select the menu SETUP using the keys! or " and confirm with OK.2 Select WLAN using the keys ! or " and confirmwith OK.3 Select CONFIG. ASS. using the keys ! or " andconfirm with OK.The machine searches for existing networks.4 Select your existing network, or select NEWNETWORK to create it, using the keys ! or " andconfirm with OK.5 SSID appears on the screen, enter the name ofyour network using the numerical keypad, pressingthe keys one after the other until you obtain thename you want (32 characters maximum) andconfirm with OK.6 AD-HOC MODE or INFRA. MODE appear on thescreen. Go back to the beginning of the chapterand make your choice.Select one of these modes and confirm with OK.- If you choose AD-HOC mode, the sub-menuCHANNEL appears, enter a figure between 1and 13 (1 to 11 for the US) and confirm with OK.7 Select your encryption method, OFF, WEP orWPA, and confirm with OK:- If you choose WEP, enter the WEP key that youare using on your network.- If you choose WPA, enter the WPA or WPA2key that you are using on your network.NoteYou can be sure of perfectcommunication if you use anapproved adaptor in conjunction withyour PC.All of the latest printer drivers for theapproved adaptor may be found onour website together with furtherinformation:http://www.okiprintingsolutions.com.ImportantYour machine’s network radioadaptor transmits data using theradio protocol IEEE 802.11g; it canalso be incorporated into an existingIEEE 802.11b network.When connecting to your machine,only use the approved adaptor.Other transmitting or receivingadaptors may damage your device.Irrespective of whether you use yourmachine in an infrastructure or ad-hoc network, you must set up certainnetwork and security parameters(for example, the Service-Set-ID(SSID) and the encryption key).These must match the network’sspecifications.NoteWe recommend that the settings ofyour WLAN network should only bechanged by a person with a goodknowledge of the configuration of yourcomputer.NoteIf you choose an existing network,steps 5 and 6 (and possibly 7) arecarried out automatically.ImportantPlease note that in ad-hoc mode,the WPA/WPA2 encryption methodis not available.NoteThe WEP key number may beconfigured in the menu: ! 29 -SETUP / TECHNICALS / WEP KEYSNBR.
