Dial Parameter SettingsDial Parameter SettingsThese functions allow you to control the way your fax machine dials telephone numbers. Refer to DialParameter Settings List to determine which settings you may need to change, then refer to ChangingYour Dial Parameter Settings to make the change ( ).Tip: Some settings are not available in some countries. If you have trouble accessing a dialparameter setting listed here, contact your dealer for assistance. Dial Parameter Settings ListBUSY TONE DETECT: If this function is enabled, your fax machine listens for a busy signal tonewhen you are sending a fax. If it detects a busy tone, it will immediately hang up and enter theredial mode.DIAL TONE DETECT: When this function is turned on, your fax machine will check for a dial tonebefore dialing a number. The default setting is off.REDIAL TRIES: This function controls how many times your fax machine will automatically redial anumber which is busy or which does not answer. Available settings are from 0 to 10 tries.REDIAL INTERVAL: The function controls how long your fax machine waits between eachautomatic redial attempt. Available settings are from 1 to 6 minutes.MF/DP: This function controls what method your fax machine uses for dialing. Two dialing methodsare in common use. DP, or dial pulse dialing, uses monotone pulses to dial a number (like arotary telephone). MF, or multi-frequency dialing (touch tone), uses different tones to dial anumber. Available settings are MF and DP.PBX LINE: Turn this function on if your fax machine is connected to a PBX. Once this function hasbeen turned on and the access digit function has been programmed, your fax machine willrecognize the access digit you use in your PBX to get an outside line. After it dials your accessdigit, your fax machine will pause to wait for an outside line before dialing the rest of thetelephone number. Available settings are on and off. See Connecting to a PBX in the Installationchapter for instructions on changing this setting.PBX TYPE: If your fax machine is connected to a PBX, this function tells your fax machine aboutthe type of PBX line your fax machine if connected to. Available settings are normal, flash andearth. If you do not know the proper setting, contact your service dealer or in-house telephoneadministrator.AUTO START: When this function is turned on, your fax machine will automatically begin dialing assoon as you have selected a location by pressing a One Touch key or entering an Auto Dialcode. You do not have to press Start. If this function is turned off, you will need to press Startbefore dialing will begin. Disabling Auto Start will allow you to confirm the location of yourtransmission before dialing; after you have confirmed the location, press Start to begin thetransmission. Available settings are on and off.ACCESS DIGIT: If your fax machine is connected to a PBX, use this function to tell your faxmachine what access number is used to obtain an outside line from your PBX. You can enter upto 4 digits. When your fax machine recognizes the first number dialed as the access digit, it willautomatically insert a pause to access an outside line.
