When using rechargeable batteries, charge the batteries.The battery is temporarily unable to function because of the cold• Battery performance declines in low temperatures, and the charge may not be sufficient toturn on the camera. Remove the battery and warm it by putting it in your pocket for a while.• If the contact area of the card is contaminated, data in the card cannot be read and the[CARD SETUP] screen may appear. In this case, select [CLEAN CARD], press o, removethe card, and then wipe the contact area with a soft dry cloth.The camera is in sleep mode• To save battery power, the camera automatically enters sleep mode and the monitor turnsoff if there is no operation for a certain amount of time when the camera is turned on (thelens is extended and the monitor is on). You can select the time to enter the sleep modefrom 1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes. No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed inthis mode. Operate the shutter button or other buttons to restore the camera from sleepmode before taking a picture. If the camera is further left for 12 minutes, it automaticallyturns off (the lens retracts and the monitor turns off).
