Chapter 17 Setting Preferences for Your Handheld198Recovering from a forgotten passwordIf you forget your password, your handheld will display the password hint, if youentered one, to help you remember the password. If you are still unable toremember the password, you can delete it from your handheld. Deleting aforgotten password also deletes all entries and files marked as Private.IMPORTANT If you synchronize with your computer before deleting a forgottenpassword, your handheld restores your private entries the next time you perform aHotSync operation, but it does not restore the password.To delete a forgotten password:1. From the General Preferences screen, select Security.2. Tap the Password box.3. Tap Lost Password.4. Tap Yes.Making records privateIn many applications, you can make individual records private. Private recordsremain visible and accessible, however, until you select the Security setting to hideor mask all private records. Masked records appear as gray placeholders in thesame position in which they would appear if they were not masked, and aremarked with a lock icon. Hidden records disappear completely from the screen. Ifyou define a password for your handheld, you must enter it to display privaterecords.
