39The battery pack has a function for measuring, storing and learning about battery ca-pacity. Using this function properly to accurately display remaining battery capacity re-quires that the battery pack be fully charged (charged to 100%), then fully discharged,and then fully charged again.This procedure should be performed once after you purchase the computer. As you usethe battery pack over a long period of time, the remaining capacity display may becomeinaccurate due to aging of the battery pack and other factors. The procedure describedbelow should be performed again.1 Attach the battery pack, then connect the AC adaptor.Remove all peripherals (except for the battery pack and AC adaptor).2 Use the “Refresh Battery” utility to fully discharge the batterypack.1 Run the Setup Utility. ( page 63)2 Select [Refresh Battery] from [Exit] menu and press Enter .3 At the confirmation message, select [Yes] and then press Enter .After the battery pack is fully charged, discharging begins. This isnecessary for the standby or hi-bernation function to be com-pleted (assuring data is saved)when the battery level is low.When making a setting for [Whenthe alarm goes off, the computerwill] in [Alarms] - [Alarm Action],add a check mark for [Forcestand by or shutdown even if aprogram stops responding]If the computer is turned off (electrical power outage, accidental removalof the AC adaptor or battery pack, etc.), the battery will not be refreshedcorrectly.Depending on the battery status, the battery pack may be dischargingtemporarily while “Charging…” is displayed.
