- 11 -ENWARNING• Do not use other than the Panasonicbattery packs that are designed for usewith this rechargeable tool.• Panasonic is not responsible for anydamage or accident caused by the useof recycled or counterfeit battery pack.• Do not dispose of the battery pack in afire, or expose it to excessive heat.• Do not allow metal objects to touch thebattery pack terminals.• Do not carry or store the battery pack inthe same container as nails or similarmetal objects.• Do not charge the battery pack in ahigh-temperature location, such as nextto a fire or in direct sunlight. Otherwise,the battery may overheat, catch fire, orexplode.• After removing the battery pack fromthe tool or the charger, always reattachthe pack cover. Otherwise, the batterycontacts could be shorted, leading to arisk of fire.• When the Battery Pack Has Deteriorat-ed, Replace It with a New One. Contin-ued use of a damaged battery packmay result in heat generation, ignitionor battery rupture.• To prevent leakage, overheating,smoke generation, fire, and rupturingfrom occurring, follow these instructionswhen handling our rechargeable powertools (tool main body/battery pack/charger).- Do not allow material cuttings or dustto fall onto the battery pack.- Before storing, remove any materialcuttings and dust from the batterypack, fit red plastic “terminal cover”,then place separately from metalobjects (screws, nails, etc.) in toolcase. Damage caused by looseobjects in the case will not be coveredby warranty.• Do not handle the rechargeable powertools in the following way.(There is a hazard of smoke genera-tion, fire, and rupturing)- Use or leave in places exposed torain or moisture- Use submerging in waterIII. ASSEMBLYAttaching or Removing BitNOTE:Disconnect battery pack from the mainunit or place the switch in the centerposition (switch lock).The main unit is equipped with a keylessdrill chuck.1. AttachmentInsert the bit and turn the lock collarclockwise (looking from the front) totighten firmly until it stops clicking.[Fig.1]2. RemovalTurn the lock collar counterclockwise(looking from the front), then removethe bit. [Fig.2]NOTE:If there is excessive play in the chuck,secure the drill in place and open thechuck jaws by turning the lock collarand tighten the screw (left-handedscrew) with a screwdriver by turning itcounterclockwise (viewed from thefront). [Fig.3]Attaching or Removing BatteryPackNOTE:When the battery pack is removed fromthe main unit, the control panel lampmay light up briefly. This is not amalfunction.1. To attach the battery pack: [Fig.4 ]Align the highlighted marker points andattach battery pack.Slide the battery pack until it locks intoposition.2. To remove the battery pack: [Fig.4 ]Push the button and slide the batterypack forward.IV. OPERATIONWARNING!• Do not inhale smoke emitted from themain unit or battery pack as it may beharmful.
