If you are on a party line, check with yourlocal telephone company.Ringer Equivalence Number (REN):This REN is useful in determining the quantity ofdevices you may connect to your telephone lineand still have all of those devices ring when yourtelephone number is called. In most but not allareas, the sum of the REN’s of all devicesconnected to one line should not exceed five (5.0).To be certain of the number of devices you mayconnect to your line, as determined by the REN,you should contact your local telephone companyto determine the maximum REN for your callingarea.In the event that terminal equipment causes harmto the telephone network, the telephone companyshould notify the customer, if possible, that servicemay be stopped. However, where prior notice isimpractical, the company may temporarily ceaseservice providing that they:a) Promptly notify the customer.b) Give the customer an opportunity to correct theproblem with their equipment.c) Inform the customer of the right to bring acomplaint to the Federal CommunicationCommission pursuant to procedures set out inFCC Rules and Regulations Subpart E of Part68.The Telephone Company may make changes in itscommunications facilities, equipment operations, orprocedures where such action is reasonablyrequired in the operation of its business and is notinconsistent with the rules and regulations in FCCPart 68. If such changes can be reasonablyexpected to render any customer terminalequipment incompatible with telephone companycommunications facilities, or require modification oralteration of such terminal equipment, or otherwisematerially affect its use or performance, thecustomer shall be given adequate notice in writing,to allow the customer an opportunity to maintainuninterrupted service.CAUTION:Any changes or modifications not expresslyapproved by the party responsible for compliancecould void the user’s authority to operate thisdevice.When programming emergency numbers and/ormaking test calls to emergency numbers:1. Remain on the line and briefly explain to thedispatcher the reason for the call beforehanging up.2. Perform such activities in the off-peak hours;such as early morning or late evenings.This telephone provides magnetic coupling tohearing aids.NOTE:This equipment has been tested and found tocomply with the limits for a Class B digital device,pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limitsare designed to provide reasonable protectionagainst harmful interference in a residentialinstallation. This equipment generates, uses, andcan radiate radio frequency energy and, if notinstalled and used in accordance with theinstructions, may cause harmful interference toradio communications. However, there is noguarantee that interference will not occur in aparticular installation.
