76TroubleshootingIf the handset display shows error messages, see “If the Following Appear onYour Display...” (p. 75) for the Cause & Remedy.Telephone SystemProblem Cause & Remedy“No link to base.Move closer tobase and tryagain.” is displayed and analarm tone sounds.• The handset has lost communication with thebase unit. Walk closer to the base unit, andtry again.• Confirm the base unit’s AC adaptor isplugged in.• Raise the base unit antennas.• If the above remedies do not solve theproblem, the handset may have lostcommunication with the base unit. Registerthe handset again (p. 55).Static, sound cuts in/out,fades. Interference from otherelectrical units.• Move the handset and base unit away fromother electrical appliances (p. 3).• Walk closer to the base unit.• Raise the base unit antennas.• Turn on the Clarity Booster feature (p. 29).• If the unit is connected to a telephone linewith DSL service, you may hear noise fromthe receiver or speaker during conversations.We recommend connecting a noise filter(contact your DSL service provider) to thetelephone line between the unit and thetelephone line jack.The base unit and/or handsetdoes not ring.• The ringer volume is turned off. Set to high,medium, or low (p. 19, 20).The handset display is blank. • If the handset display is blank, fully chargethe battery (p. 12).You cannot program anyfunction items.• Programming is not possible while thehandset and/or base unit is being used.• Do not pause for over 60 seconds whileprogramming.• Walk closer to the base unit.• While another user is listening to messagesor the Answering System is handling a call,you cannot program. Try again later.While programming orsearching, the handset orbase unit starts to ring and theprogram/search stops.• A call is coming in. To answer the call, press[C], [s] or [SP-PHONE]. Start again fromthe beginning after hanging up.
