Multi-unit Operation19Operating additional unitsAdditional handsetsUp to 5 handsets can be registered to a singlebase unit.Important:L The additional handset model recommended foruse with this unit is noted on page 4. If othermodel handset is used, certain operations(handset settings, base unit settings, etc.) maynot be available.L Additional handsets will give you the freedom to,for example, have an intercom call with anotherhandset while a third handset is on an outsidecall.Additional base unitsHandsets can be registered to up to 4 base units,allowing you to add additional base units andextend the area in which your handset(s) can beused. You need to select the desired base unit touse the handset with (page 19).Registering a handset to abase unitThe supplied handset and base unit are pre-registered. If for some reason the handset is notregistered to the base unit (for example, w flasheseven when the handset is near the base unit),register the handset.1 Press and hold {x} on the base unit for about5 seconds until a beep is heard.L If all registered handsets start ringing, press{x} to stop, then repeat this step.L After a beep is heard, the rest of thisprocedure must be completed within 1minute.2 {MENU} (right soft key) i r i {OK}3 {^}/{V}: “Registration” i {OK}4 {^}/{V}: “Register Handset” i {OK}5 {^}/{V}: Select a base unit number. i {OK}L This number is used by the handset as areference only.L The registered base unit is indicated by “@”.6 “Enter PIN” is displayed. If the keytone is turned on (page 15), a confirmationtone will be heard.Selecting a base unitWhen a specific base unit is selected, the handsetwill make and receive calls using that base unitonly.
