Preparation5Important informationGeneralL Use only the AC adaptor included with thisproduct, noted on page 4.L Do not connect the AC adaptor to any ACoutlet other than a standard 220–240 VAC outlet.L This product is unable to make calls when:– the portable handset battery(ies) needrecharging or have failed.– there is a power failure.– the key lock feature is turned on.L Do not open the base unit, charger, orhandset other than to replace thebattery(ies).L This product should not be used nearemergency/intensive care medicalequipment and should not be used bypeople with pacemakers.L Care should be taken that objects do notfall onto, and liquids are not spilled into,the unit. Do not subject this product toexcessive smoke, dust, mechanicalvibration or shock.EnvironmentL Do not use this product near water.L This product should be kept away fromheat sources such as radiators, cookers,etc. It should also not be placed in roomswhere the temperature is less than 5 °C orgreater than 40 °C.L The AC adaptor is used as the maindisconnect device. Ensure that the ACoutlet is installed near the unit and iseasily accessible.Warning:L To prevent the risk of electrical shock, donot expose this product to rain or anyother type of moisture.L Unplug this unit from power outlets if itemits smoke, an abnormal smell or makesunusual noise. These conditions cancause fire or electric shock. Confirm thatsmoke has stopped and contact anauthorised service centre.Battery cautionL We recommend using the battery(ies)noted on page 4. Use only rechargeablebattery(ies).L Do not mix old and new batteries.L Do not dispose of the battery(ies) in a fire,as they may explode. Check local wastemanagement codes for special disposalinstructions.L Do not open or mutilate the battery(ies).Released electrolyte from the battery(ies)is corrosive and may cause burns or injuryto the eyes or skin. The electrolyte may betoxic if swallowed.L Exercise care when handling thebattery(ies).
