Recording pictures (advanced)51VQT0R26Recording pictures (advanced)Using the Mode DialThis mode allows you to take close-uppictures of the subject, e.g. when takingpictures of flowers.You can take pictures approaching thesubject at a distance up to 5 cm (0.16 feet)from the lens by rotating the zoom leverupmost to Wide (1k).∫ Focus range• We recommend using a tripod and theself-timer (P40) in the macro mode.• When the subject is close to the camera,the effective focus range (depth of field) issignificantly narrowed. Therefore, you willhave difficulty in focusing on the subject ifthe distance between the camera and thesubject is changed after focusing on thesubject.• When the camera lens is at a distancebeyond the available range from thesubject, the subject may not be focusedeven if the focus indication lights.• The available flash range is about 30 cm(0.98 feet) to 4.0 m (13.1 feet) (Wide).(This is applied when you set the ISOsensitivity to [AUTO].)• When you take pictures at close range inmacro mode, the resolution of theperipheral of the picture may be slightlydecreased.
