- 26 -Operation FunctionOperation functionThe inverter has the following control functions that are made active from the operationpanel and terminal block.Operation control DescriptionJogging Acceleration/deceleration time is set to “0”. This function is optimum forpositioning. By setting [ Operation mode selection] to “2-speed mode”,jogging operation is enabled. When the “I3” and “G” control input terminals are short-circuited, CCWjogging is enabled. When “I4” and “G” are short-circuited, CW jogging isenabled, and the jogging frequency is output. You can switch over between the normal operation mode and the joggingmode. The jogging frequency can be specified in the range of 0 to 30 Hz. If thejogging frequency is too high, the inverter may trip due to overcurrent.Free-run stop Turns off the output voltage applied to the motor, allowing the motor to coast. This function is useful to brake the motor mechanically. Remember thattouching the motor output terminals (U/T1, V/T2 and W/T3) may causeelectric shock even if the free-run stop function is activated.DC brake Activates the brake by applying a direct current to the motor at the timewhen the inverter shifts from the running status to the stop status. If theCCW, CW or jogging command is issued while the DC brake function isactivated, the DC brake is disabled, and the motor starts running asspecified by the command.Positioning DCbrakeWhen a stop command is issued during normal operation, the motorsoft-stops, and the DC brake is activated when the output frequency isreduced to 3 Hz. (The frequency at which the brake is activated can bechanged with the parameter). When the frequency is set to “0”, the DC brake is activated when the outputfrequency falls below 1 Hz.The DC brake intensity (torque) and time can be specified with theparameters.DC brake forfull-range stopWhen a stop command is issued during normal operation, the DC brake isimmediately activated without soft-stop.The DC brake intensity (torque) and time can be specified with theparameters. The DC brake time is twice as long as the time specified for “Positioning DCbrake”.
