Care and replacementENGLISH- 91 Maintenance■ Lamp unit replacement procedureAttentionz Once a lamp unit has exceeded its lifespan of 4 000hours (when [LAMP POWER] is set to [NORMAL]) theprojector can only be used for 10 minutes after turningon. ( page 90)z Perform steps 20) to 23) of the procedure within 10minutes.z If the projector is installed on the ceiling, do not carry outany replacement procedure directly underneath the lampunit and keep your face away from the unit.z Do not open the top cover except when replacing thelamp unit.z Do not switch the power on while the top cover isopened.z Always replace the air filter and electrostatic filterwhenever replacing the lamp unit.z Install the lamp unit and the lamp cover securely.1) Press the side of the POWER> switch to turn off the power asdescribed in the “Switching off the power”procedure ( page 30), remove the powerplug from the power outlet, and then after anhour or more, check if the area surroundingthe lamp unit has cooled down.2) Remove the video cable connected to theconnecting terminal.Attentionz If you open the top panel fully, it may come into contactwith connectors such as the video cable which may resultin breakage of the video cable. Before opening the toppanel, be sure to remove the connected video cables,etc.3) Hold the protrusions at the front cornerof the top cover of the projector andpush up to open.* When the projector is mounted on the ceiling, standat the lens side of the projector when opening/closing the top cover.Top coverProtrusionAttentionz Be careful not to open the top panel too far. For whatto do if the top panel comes off, see ”Attaching the topcover” ( page 93).4) Use a Philips screwdriver to unscrewthe lamp cover fixing screw (one) untilit becomes loose, and then remove thelamp cover.* Slowly remove the lamp cover from the projector.Lamp coverLampcover fixingscrew5) Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew thelamp unit fixing screws (2 screws) untilloose.6) Hold the handle of the lamp unit and withthe lamp unit lock held in the direction ofthe black arrow, carefully pull it out of theprojector unit in a vertical motion.モLamp unit fixingscrewsHandle Lamp unit lock7) Replace the new lamp unit while makingsure that the direction of insertion iscorrect. Press the top of the lamp unitdownwards and make sure the unit isinstalled securely. Tighten the lamp unitfixing screws (2 screws) securely with aPhillips screwdriver.z Press down on the A part firmly when inserting thelamp unit.8) Mount the lamp cover, and tighten the lampcover fixing screw (one screw) securely witha Phillips screwdriver.9) Close the top cover of the projector.z Close the top cover using the reverse of theprocedure in 3), and press the center of the topcover.10) Reconnect the video cable disconnectedin 2) to the connecting terminal.
