Chapter 7 Installing, Removing, and ReplacingReplacing an Expansion ModuleScalar i500 User’s Guide 260There are some configuration settings to take into account whenremoving and replacing an expansion module.• COD licenses remain the same. After the expansion module isremoved, there may be more slots licensed than are available. Onlythe available slots appear on the License screen.• All resources in the removed module(s) are removed. A partitionwith all resources in the removed module(s) will be present with noslots or drives. This partition can only be deleted.The best practice before removing and replacing an expansion module isto:• Using your I/E station, export all the tape cartridges from yourlibrary.• Delete all partitions.• Delete all cleaning slots.• Set the number of I/E station slots to six.Note: The maximum number of expansion modules supportedin a library depends on the level of firmware the library isrunning. See Updating Library and Tape Drive Firmwareon page 163 for more information.Warning: All libraries taller than 14U must be installed in a rackhaving a main protective earthing (grounding)terminal, and power must be supplied via anindustrial plug and socket-outlet and/or an appliancecoupler complying with IEC 60309 (or an equivalentnational standard) and having a protective earth(ground) conductor with a cross sectional area of atleast 1.5 mm 2 (14 AWG).To ensure proper airflow and access space, Allow 60cm (24 inches) in the front and back of the library.
