42 Configuring Your LibraryBy default, the library applies the Standard barcode format to each partition. You can change this setting bymodifying the partition after it has been created. For information on modifying partitions, see ModifyingPartitions on page 45.The paths to open the appropriate screens are as follows:• From the web client, select Setup > Partitions.• From the operator panel, select Setup > Create Partitions.Manually Creating PartitionsUsing the web client, administrative users can manually create additional partitions any time after the initialconfiguration of the library. The maximum number of partitions that can be created is equal to the numberof drives in the library. The library must contain at least one unassigned tape drive and slot to create a partition. If no tape drivesor slots are available, you must modify or delete an existing partition to free up resources. For moreinformation, see Modifying Partitions on page 45 and Deleting Partitions on page 45.When you manually create partition, the library creates control paths as shown in Table 6. You can alsomanually change the control path (see Modifying the Control Path on page 52).Only FC tape drives and there is atleast one FC I/O blade installed in thelibraryThe FC I/O blade is designated as the control path for thepartition, even if the partition has no tape drives connected tothe FC I/O blade. Proceed as follows:• In partitions that have tape drives connected to the hostthrough an FC I/O blade, the FC I/O blade serves as thecontrol path (no tape drive is configured as a control pathdrive). Do not manually select a tape drive as the control pathfor this partition unless you select a tape drive that is notconnected to the FC I/O blade. (If you select a tape drive tohost a control path and it is also connected to the FC I/Oblade, you will effectively have two control paths and this cancause the host to see the same partition multiple times via theFC I/O blade.)a• In partitions that do not have tape drives connected to thehost through an FC I/O blade, you must manually select atape drive as the control path for that partition.a. Selecting a control path for a tape drive attached to an FC I/O blade can affect what is displayed during host mappingconfiguration. It can also affect what devices are presented to the host application. If a tape drive is seen multiple times bythe host, check to see if a control path has been defined for the partition and remove it. See Configuring Host Mapping onpage 68 for information on host mapping.Note This operation cannot be performed concurrently by multiple administrativeusers logged in from different locations. You can access the screen, but youcannot apply changes while another administrative user is performing the sameoperation.Table 5 Control Path Assignment During Automatic PartitioningIf a partition contains...
