52 Configuring Your Library• The requested interface speed can be set to Auto (default), 1 Gb/s, 2 Gb/s, and 4Gb/s. When youset the speed to 4Gb/s using the web client, a caution message appears informing you that the 4Gb/s speed selection may not be applicable to all FC tape drives installed in the library. Acknowledgethe message by clicking OK.• If the requested FC topology and speed settings are not supported, the next appropriate settingsare negotiated. On the web client, the Drive IDs screen displays both the requested and the actualFC topology connection mode and interface speed. If FC drives are not connected to the host, thenegotiated actual settings appear on the screen as "unknown."The paths to open the appropriate screens are as follows:• From the web client, select Setup > Drive IDs.• From the operator panel, select Setup > Drive IDs.Modifying the Control PathThe control path tape drive is used to connect a partition to a host application. The library automatically creates control paths when you set up partitions. See Table 5 on page 41 andTable 6 on page 43 for a description of how control paths are selected during automatic and manualpartitioning.Only one tape drive in a partition can be selected as the control path per partition. In the event that thecontrol path connection to the host application fails, you can select a new control path for the partition.Control paths should not be selected for partitions that contain FC tape drives connected to a hostapplications through FC I/O blades, unless the control path tape drive is NOT connected to an FC I/O blade. The Setup > Control Path screens list a selected partition’s tape drives, including the tape drive that iscurrently designated as the control path. You can designate a new control path for the partition by selectinga different tape drive. You can also disable a partition’s control path by clearing the current control pathselection.Note On the web client, the Drive IDs screen displays tape drive information intables. Bold column headings in the tables can be sorted. For example, selecting the Location column heading will sort by location coordinates.Note Selecting a control path for a tape drive attached to an FC I/O blade can affectwhat is displayed during host mapping configuration. It can also affect whatdevices are presented to the host application. If a tape drive is seen multipletimes by the host, check to see if a control path has been defined for thepartition and remove it. See Configuring Host Mapping on page 68 forinformation on host mapping.Note You may need to modify settings in your host application as a result ofmodifying the control path. See your host application documentation.Note Bold column headings in the table can be sorted. For example, selecting theLocation column heading will sort by location coordinates.
