chapter 6 57The Menu SystemSetting the Rating LimitThe Ratings Limit feature is a rating limit system, sort of like movie ratings. It works with DVDdiscs that have been assigned a rating. This helps you control the types of DVDs that your familywatches.The Rated Titles option lets you determine how your player will react to discs that contain moviesthat are rated (in the U.S.A., the Motion Pictures Association of America rates movies as G, PG, PG-13, etc.).You decide which ratings require a password and which ones don’t. This system ranks the ratings1 through 8 in order to accommodate different countries’ ratings systems (1 is considered a movietitle with the least offensive material).In order for the Rating level feature to work, the disc must be encoded with rating information.1. With no disc playing, press MENU (the main menu appears).2. Press 5 to select Rating Limit (the CHECK PASSWORD screenappears).3. In order to set a rating limit, the Password feature must be turned on.If the password feature isn’t on, press the right arrow button totoggle password on. The Rating Limit screen appears.4. Press 2 to set the rating limit (the SET RATING LIMIT screenappears).5. To set the rating, use the up/down arrow buttons to highlight yourpreferred rating level and press OK to return to the RATING LIMITscreen.6. Press GO BACK to return to the previous menu.Unlocking the Rating LimitTo unlock the rating limit:1. With no disc playing, press MENU( the Main Menu appears).2. Press 5 to select Rating Limit (The PASSWORD CHECK screenappears).3. Enter your 4-digit password.4. Press 1 to select Use Password. Press the right arrow button tounlock.5. Press the GO BACK button to return to the main menu.
