chapter 6 63The Menu SystemDimming the Front Panel DisplayUse this feature to adjust the brightness of the player’s front panel display.1. With no disc playing, press MENU (the Main Menu appears).2. Press 7 to select Display Options. The DISPLAY OPTIONS screenappears.3. Press 4 to select Display Brightness.4. Use the left/right arrows to select a display setting.Auto Dim – This is the default setting. It dims display when a diskis playing.Bright – The display is always bright.Dim – The display is always dim.5. Press GO BACK to return to the main menu.Changing the Black LevelThe Black Level setting can be changed to lighten the picture when it appears too dark. Thisallows you to change the brightness of the picture without adjusting your television.The black level is measured by IRE level. Complete black is 0 IRE while pure white is 100 IRE. TheLight setting (which is a black level of 7.5 IRE) adds light to improve a too-dark picture.1. With no disc playing, press MENU (the Main Menu appears).2. Press 7 to select Display Options.
