17Your RCU1010’s SmartMacro feature allows you to execute a sequence of commands with onekeypress. A SmartMacro learns any sequence of original remote commands. A total of 20 Learnedcommands can be stored under each of the nine available LCD Macro keys. If you program all 20 keysinto a SmartMacro, the Macro is automatically stored after the twentieth Learned command iscompleted. The sequence of commands you want a SmartMacro to execute must be programmed incorrect sequential order. Any sequence of commands that you regularly perform can be stored as aSmartMacro and reduced to a single keypress. You cannot program a Macro within a Macro.Program a SmartMacroExample of Programming a Macro1. Turn on the TV and set it to channel 3.2. Turn on the satellite receiver and set it to channel 57.3. Turn on the VCR.4. Now you’re ready to record your favorite satellite program with just a keypress.SmartMacro Key OperationsTo program a SmartMacro, follow these steps:1. Gather all your original remotes that contain functionsyou would like to add to a SmartMacro.2. Place the first original remote in the Learning position (seeLearning Tips section on pg. 14). Point the top of the originalremote at the base of the RCU1010 so the IR LED on theoriginal remote is in line with the RCU1010 Learn sensor,located at the bottom of the remote. The remotes should bepositioned 2-3 inches apart.3. Press and hold the SETUP key on the rubber keypad for2-3 seconds until the LED indicator light remains on and thetouchscreen shows the Code Setup Mode? Screen.4. Release the SETUP key.5 Press and release the LCD MACRO Key. The Set SmartMacro?Screen is displayed.6. Press and release the LCD OK key.7. The touchscreen now displays the SmartMacro Key? Screen.Press and release the digit key under which you want to storethe SmartMacro (from 1-9).8 The touchscreen now shows the S-MacroX Learn? Screen.Press and release the LCD LEARN key.9. The S-Macro X Learning Screen now appears on thetouchscreen. Press and hold the key on the original remoteuntil the LED indicator light on the RCU1010 blinks once.This process takes 2-3 seconds to complete.Note: If there is a problem during the Learning process,the S-Macro X Error Screen is displayed for three secondsbut remains in the SmartMacro routine and returns to theS-Macro X Learning Screen. If no Learned command isdetected, the RCU1010 will timeout after 30 seconds.10. Release the original remote key.11. Program additional commands in the order you want themto be stored in the SmartMacro. To add commands to theSmartMacro, repeat steps 8-9 above, using the originalremotes to program. When finished, press and release theLCD OK Key You can store up to 20 learned commands underone SmartMacro.
