22Basic Operation2Basic OperationService Bank SearchYour scanner contains groups of preset frequenciescalled Service Banks. You can search for marine, fire/police, aircraft, ham, and weather transmissions even ifyou do not know the specific frequencies that are usedin your area. Then you can store the frequencies youfind into the scanner’s channels (except for weather andmarine banks, which are already stored as channels).1. Press , , , , or .MAr, FIrE POLICE, AIr, HAM, or WEAtHErappears respectively. After about two seconds, theservice search starts.2. To search for another active frequency in theselected bank, press e or d.See “Preprogrammed Service Bank Frequencies” on page 6for a list of the frequencies.n Notes:• Press •/Delay to turn the two-second delay featureon and off.• Press L/O to lock-out a frequency.• Press PSE to pause searching. Press PSE again toresume.• To reverse the search direction at any time, presse or d.• If necessary, you can select search groups using thenumber keys.• The frequencies in the scanner’s Service Banks arepreset. You cannot change them.Signal Stalker II SearchSignal Stalker II is a powerful tool to rapidly detect,monitor, store, or lock-out frequencies from nearbyradio transmissions.You can search for activity on all banks, Police/Fire,Aircraft, or Ham Service Banks.• When the scanner is in manual, scan, or tune mode,press to search for activity on all banks.• When the scanner is in the Police/Fire, Aircraft, orHam Service Bank, press to search for activity onthe corresponding bank.• Activate and deactivate frequency sub-banks bypressing the corresponding number key while SignalStalker II is searching.Once an active frequency is found, the transmission isplayed and you can store it in the scanner’s channel-storage banks.n Note: Priority mode is not available while usingSignal Stalker II.Storing Found Frequencies intoChannelsOnce you find interesting frequencies during a Tune,Service Bank, or Signal Stalker II search, you can storethem in the scanner’s channel-storage banks.1. Press ENT when you find a frequency. The banknumber and StorE appear.2. If you want to change banks, enter the new banknumber.. Press ENT to store the frequency. The channel andfrequency flash twice. To cancel the operation,press TUNE/CLEAR.n Notes:• The frequency is automatically stored in the firstempty channel of the selected bank.• If the scanner displays -dUPL-, the frequency isalready stored in another channel. Press ENT ifyou want to continue storing the frequency. PressTUNE/CLEAR to cancel.• If there are no empty channels in the bank,Ch-FULL appears. You can select another bankor clear some channels in the current bank (see“Clearing a Stored Channel” on page 25).
