Birdies are signalscreated inside the scanner’s receiver, which may interferewith transmissions on the same frequencies. If youprogram one of these frequencies, you hear only noiseon that frequency. If the interference is not severe, youmight be able to turn Squelch clockwise to omit thebirdie. To find the birdies in your scanner, disconnect theantenna and move it away from the scanner. Make surethat no other nearby radio or TV sets are turned on nearthe scanner. Use the Tune to search every frequencyrange from its lowest frequency to the highest.Occasionally, the searching will stop as if it has found asignal, often without any sound. This is a birdie. Make alist of all the birdies in your scanner for future reference.FCC NoticeThis equipment has been tested and found to complywith the limits for a scanning receiver, pursuant toPart 15 of the FCC Rules.
