24Basic Operation2Basic OperationScanning the Stored ChannelsPress SCAN/MAN until SCAN appears to continuouslyscan through all channels with stored frequencies.If the scanner finds an active frequency, it stops anddisplays that channel and frequency number, thenit automatically begins scanning again when thetransmission on that frequency ends.n Notes:• Press e or d to reverse the scanning direction.• Press •/DELAY to set the scanner to remain onthe current channel for two seconds after thetransmission ends.• To set the scanner to remain on the current channel,even after the transmission stops, press SCAN/MAN at any time during the transmission so MANappears and SCAN disappears (see “Monitoring aStored Channel” below).• Press L/O to lock-out a channel.Turning Channel-Storage Banks On and OffTo turn a channel-storage bank on or off, press thebank’s number key (1–0, using 0 for bank 10) duringscanning. The channel-storage banks are on whenthey have a bar underneath them and off when no barappears underneath them.n Notes:• The scanner does not scan any of the channelswithin the banks you have turned off.• You cannot turn off all banks; there must be at leastone active bank.• You can manually select any channel in a bank, evenif the bank is turned off.• When you turn on a bank during scanning, thescanner moves to the selected bank and scans it.• If no transmission is found, the scanner continues toscan through all selected banks.Monitoring a Stored ChannelYou can continuously monitor a specific channel withoutscanning. This could be useful if you hear a transmissionon a channel and do not want to miss any details, eventhough there might be periods of silence.1. Press SCAN/MAN until MAN appears.2. Enter the channel number (1–200).. Press SCAN/MAN again.Clearing a Stored ChannelTo remove a frequency stored in a channel.1. Press SCAN/MAN to stop scanning.2. Press the number keys to enter the channel number(1–200).. Press PGM. PGM appears.4. Press 0 then ENT. The frequency number changesto 000.000 0 to indicate the channel is cleared.. To clear another channel, use the number keys toenter that channel number then press PGM again.Or, repeatedly press PGM until the desired channelnumber appears. Repeat Step 4.Listening to the Marine BankPress to search the marine bank. MAr appears abouttwo seconds, then the scanner starts searching frommarine channel 16. To change the search direction,press e or d.Press PSE to stop searching. SRCH disappears andMAN appears.• To change the channel manually, press e or d.• To select a channel directly, enter the two-digitchannel number. See “Marine Service Bank” on page 6for a list of channels.• To lock-out a frequency, press L/O.Press PSE again to restart the marine bank search.
