14 I General User ManualQuick-release device1 Quick-release lever2 Adjusting nut12To open the quick-release device, proceed as follows:› Throw back the quick-release lever so that its innerface or the lettering OPEN is visible.› Open the quick-release device as far as possible.› Turn the adjusting nut anticlockwise to furtherslacken the quick-release device.To close the quick-release device, proceed as follows:› Adjust the clamping strength by turning the adjust-ing nut.› If the quick-release device closes too easily, openit again and turn the adjusting nut clockwise.› If the quick-release device still closes too easily,repeat the previous step.› If the quick-release device is too difficult to close,turn the adjusting nut anticlockwise.› Turn back the quick-release lever from the OPENposition so you can see the outer side of the leveror the lettering CLOSE.› When closed, quick-release levers must lie flatagainst the frame, fork and saddle clamp. Makesure that quick-release devices for the hubs pointbackwards when closed as otherwise they couldsnag on obstructions when the bike is movingand open. This could lead to serious accidents.9.2.3 Determining the correct saddle height› Sit on the bike saddle.› Try to reach the pedal with your heel when it is inthe bottom position. Your knee should be more orless fully straightened out.› Place the balls of your feet on the centre of thepedal. If your knee is now slightly bent, the saddleheight is correct.Never tighten the seatpost if the maximum mark orstop mark is above the top of the seat tube as other-wise you could injure yourself or damage the seat-post. Always observe the specified tightening torques.In full-suspension mountain bikes the seat tube is alsoopen at the bottom, so the seatpost should only be insert-ed a certain distance downwards to ensure the rear swingarm and suspension element never come into contactwhen the bike is in use.
