The Interlock system prevents the engine from start-ing unless the parking brake is engaged, the tractionpedal is in neutral and the power take-off switch isOFF. The system also stops the engine if the opera-tor leaves the seat with the power take-off switch ON,traction pedal out of NEUTRAL, or parking brakeDISENGAGED.2. Perform each of the following tests to insure theInterlock system is functioning properly. Stop thetest and have the system inspected and repaired ifany of the tests fail as listed below:þthe engine does not start in test 1; the engine does start during tests 2,3 or 4; the engine continues to run during tests 5 or 6.3. Refer to the chart below for each test and follow thecheck (✔) marks across the chart. Shut engine offbetween each test.Test 1: Represents normal starting procedure. Theoperator is seated, parking brake is engaged, theoperator’s feet are off the pedals, and the power take-off switch is OFF. The engine should start.Test 2: The engine must not start if the power take-off switch is ON.Test 3: The engine must not start if the parking brakeis DISENGAGED.Test 4: The engine must not start if the traction pedalis pressed.Test 5: Start the engine in the normal manner thenturn power take-off switch ON and lift your weight offthe seat. Test 6: Start the engine in the normal manner thendisengage parking brake and lift your weight off theseat. Lift your weight off seat. The engine will shut down.3.9 TRACTION PEDAL SPEED LIMITER __________________________________________Cutting quality is better at speeds well below thetransport speed of the tractor. An initial mow speed of fiveto six m.p.h. is set at the factory and should besatisfactory for most cutting conditions. Local turfconditions however may respond better to a differentspeed.To set mow speed, loosen jam nut (Q) and adjust stopscrew up to reduce speed, down to increase speed.Tighten nut to hold adjustment in place.Figure 3EWARNINGNever operate equipment with the Interlocksystem disconnected or malfunctioning.
