Follow the simplified procedure previously outlined in Basic Installation toinstall a simple Paragon system with a single Base Unit. See Appendix B: User Station Direct Mode, toinstall a “direct mode” User Station-to-CIM system with no Base Units. See Chapter 5: Paragon II and Z-CIM to install a Z-CIM and a local PC in your system.Using the OSUI for Initial ConfigurationYou will use the Paragon II On-Screen User Interface (OSUI) while you install the Paragon system, so hereare some basics of the OSUI to familiarize yourself before starting your installation. Once the User Stationand user-station equipment are in place and powered ON, activate the OSUI by rapidly pressing the defaulthotkey ([Scroll Lock]) twice on an attached keyboard. Each OSUI menu contains the following sections: amenu-title line, a menu/screen body (for text and fields), a prompt/message bar, and a status line thatconsists of:• The current OSUI hotkey• Scan/Skip status• NCS ([Num Lock], [Caps Lock], and [Scroll Lock]) status indicator• A communication-speed indicator (“L” for low or “H” for high, which will depend on your Paragoncomponents) showing the communication speed between the User Station and Base Station.Figure 17 Format of OSUI screensUse function keys [F1], [F2], [F3], [F4], [F8], and [F12] to toggle between first-level menus.
