Select Find Ship.14.10 Chart OrientationThe orientation of a chart refers to the relationshipbetween the chart and the direction that you aretravelling in.Chart Orientation is used in conjunction with MotionMode to control how your vessel and chart relate toone another and how they are displayed on-screen.The mode you choose applies to the active Chartinstance, and is restored at power up.The following options are available:North UpND12300-2In North Up mode, the Chart Orientation isfixed with true north pointing up this is the (usualorientation of nautical charts). As your headingchanges the vessel symbol rotates accordingly. Thisis the default orientation for the Chart application.Head UpND12298-2In Head Up mode, the Chart application displays thevessel’s current Heading directly up. As the vesselHeading changes the vessel symbol remains fixedand the chart picture rotates accordingly. If Headingis not available then stable COG is used instead. IfHeading or stable COG data is no longer presentthen the Orientation mode is suspended and theChart application will display 0 degrees directly upif there is no active navigation or Course Up if thereis active navigation.Note: To prevent continuous backwards andforwards rotations as the vessel yaws fromside-to-side, the chart will not update unless theheading changes by at least 10 degrees from thelast displayed orientation.Note: It is not possible to select Head-Up whenthe Motion Mode is set to True.166 LightHouse MFD operation instructions
