12.Using a suitable sized wrench tighten the locknut against the washer and the mounting bracketto lock in position.The lock nut should be tightened sufficiently tosecurely hold the display in position. Do notovertighten.Note: The supplied gasket provides a sealbetween the unit and a suitably flat and stiffmounting surface or binnacle. The gasket shouldbe used in all installations. It may also benecessary to use a marine-grade sealant if themounting surface or binnacle is not entirely flat andstiff or has a rough surface finish.5.6 Surface mounting the card readerD12721-11. Check the selected location for the unit. A clear,flat area with suitable clearance behind the panelis required.2. Before modifying the mounting surface, referto the dimensions supplied in this document toensure there is enough space for the unit andcable.3. Fix the supplied mounting template to theselected location, using masking or self-adhesivetape.4. Drill 4 holes as indicated on the mountingtemplate to accept the fixings.5. Using a 40 mm (1.6 in) hole cutter, drill out thecut-out area identified on the mounting template.6. Ensure that the card reader fits into the removedarea and then remove rough edges.7. Affix the supplied gasket onto the rear of the cardreader and press firmly onto the flange.8. Feed the cable through the hole and connect tothe multifunction display’s card reader connector.9.
