Refer to the following sections:a) Locating Your Fireplaceb) Clearancesc) Combustible Mantel Clearancesd) Framing & Finishinge) Venting. See the "Venting Introduction" to"Venting Arrangements" sections.2. Assemble Standoffs. Refer to the "Unit Assem-bly Prior to Installation" section. (NOTE: mustbe done before installing unit into fireplace.)3. Install vent. See the "Horizontal Installations"to "Installation Procedures" sections.4. Install 4 AA batteries into receiver batterybox. Hook receiver to wiring marked receiver,this will enable operation of the appliancemanually when position in "ON" position.Note: The wire harness (marked receiver) islocated near the gas valve and will need to berouted to the exterior of the fireplace from eitherthe left or right hand side of the appliance priorfinishing.5. Bring 120 volt power to appliance and 120 voltfrom the power vent cap to the appliance.6. Make gas connections.Test the pilot. Must be asper diagram. Refer to the "Gas Line Installation"& "Pilot Adjustment" sections.7. Install standard and optional features. Referto the following sections where applicable:a. Barrier Safety Glassb. Firebox (inner) glassc. Log Setd. Fireglasse. Ceramic stones or other approved mediaf. Painted, enamel, or glass panels (panelsrequired)g. Heatwave Kith. Power vent cap8. Plug 3 prong plug for the lights into thereceptacle. The 3 prong plug will be locatednear the gas valve on the appliance.9. Final check.Before leaving this unit with the customer, theinstaller must ensure that the appliance is firingcorrectly and operation fully explained to customer.General Safety Information1. The appliance installation must conform withlocal codes or, in the absence of local codes,with the current Canadian or National GasCodes, CAN1-B149 or ANSI Z223.1 InstallationCodes.2. See general construction and assemblyinstructions. The appliance and vent should beenclosed.3. This appliance must be connected to thespecified vent and termination cap to the outsideof the building envelope. Never vent to anotherroom or inside a building. Make sure that thevent is fitted as per Venting instructions.4. Inspect the venting system annually for blockageand any signs of deterioration.5. Venting terminals shall not be recessed into awall or siding.6. Any safety glass removed for servicing mustbe replaced prior to operating the appliance.7. To prevent injury, do not allow anyone who isunfamiliar with the operation to use the fireplace.8. Wear gloves and safety glasses for protectionwhile doing required maintenance.9. Be aware of electrical wiring locations in wallsand ceilings when cutting holes for termination.10. Under no circumstances should this appliancebe modified. Parts that have to be removed forservicing should be replaced prior to operatingthis appliance.11. Installation and any repairs to this applianceshould be done by a qualified service person.A professional service person should be calledto inspect this appliance annually. Make it apractice to have all of your gas applianceschecked annually.12. Do not slam shut or strike the glass door.13. Under no circumstances should any solid fuels(wood, paper, cardboard, coal, etc.) be used inthis appliance.14. The appliance area must be kept clear andfree of combustible materials, (gases and otherflammable vapours and liquids).Emissions from burning wood or gas couldcontain chemicals known to the State ofCalifornia to cause cancer, birth defects orother reproductive harm.HeatwaveDuct System Optional kitThe HeatWave Air Duct Kit increases theeffectiveness of your fireplace by dispersing warmair from the fireplace to remote locations in the sameroom or other rooms in your home.Up to two kits may be installed on the fireplace.The HeatWave Duct Kit has different clearanceand framing requirements, check the HeatWavemanual for details.This includes:1. Clocking the appliance to ensure the correctfiring rate (rate noted on label 46,500 Btu/hNG/ 45,500 Btu/h LP) after burning appliancefor 15 minutes.2. If required, adjusting the primary air to ensurethat the flame does not carbon. First allow theunit to burn for 15-20 min. to stabilize.CAUTION: Any alteration to the product thatcauses sooting or carboning that results in damageis not the responsibility of the manufacturer.
