This includes:1) Clocking the appliance to ensure thecorrect firing rate (rate noted on label) at15 minutes.2) If required, adjusting the primary air to ensurethat the flame does not carbon. First allowthe unit to burn for 15 min. to stabilize.3) Check for proper draft.7) Turn gas control knob counter clockwise to"ON".8) Use the rocker switch to operate mainburner.9) Rotate the variable flame control to adjustthe flame height higher or lower.10) Close the bottom louver assembly.SHUTDOWNPROCEDURE1) Use the rocker switch to turn off the mainburner.2) Open the bottom louver assembly.3) Push in the gas control knob slightly andturn clockwise to "OFF". Do not force.4) Disconnect all electric power and gasto the appliance if service is to beperformed.FIRST FIREThe first fire in your stove is part of the paintcuring process. To ensure that the paint isproperly cured, it is recommended that youburn your fireplace for at least four (4) hours thefirst time you use it with the fan on. When firstoperated, the unit will release an odour causedby the curing of the paint, the burning off ofany oils remaining from manufacturing. Smokedetectors in the house may go off at this time.Open a few windows to ventilate the room fora couple of hours.The glass panel may require cleaning after theunit has cooled down.DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THEGLASS WHILE IT IS HOT.Do not use abrasive cleaners onthe glass.Note: When the glass is cold and theappliance is lit, it may causecondensation and fog the glass.This condensation is normal and willdisappear in a few minutes as theglass heats up.DO NOT BURN THE APPLIANCEWITHOUT THE GLASS FRONT INPLACE.OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSOPERATINGINSTRUCTIONSBefore operating this appliance, proceed throughthe following check list.1) Read and understand these Instructionsbefore operating this appliance.2) Check to see that all wiring is correct andenclosed to prevent possible shock.LIGHTING PROCEDURENOTE: For all propane units and unitsequipped with electric spark boxes,see "Copy of Lighting Plate Instruc-tions" section for more details.IMPORTANT: Gas on/off knob cannot beturned from "PILOT" to "OFF" unless it ispartially depressed.1) Open the bottom louver assembly2) If the control knob is in the "OFF" positionproceed to Step 5.3) Push in gas control knob slightly and turnclockwise to "OFF". Knob cannot be turnedfrom "PILOT" to "OFF" unless knob ispushed in slightly. Do not force.4) Wait fi ve minutes to allow gas, that mayhave accumulated in the main burnercompartment, to escape. If you do smellgas, follow the instructions on the front ofthis manual. If you don't smell gas continueon to the next step.5) Turn the gas control counter clockwise to"PILOT".6) Push in control knob all the way and holdin. Continually push and release the blackbutton on spark igniter until pilot lights.Continue to hold the control knob in forapproximately one minute, then releasethe gas control knob. The pilot flame shouldcontinue to burn. If the pilot does not remainlit, repeat operation allowing a longer periodbefore releasing gas control knob.6) Verify log placement. If the pilot cannot beseen when lighting the unit - the logs or theembers have been incorrectly positioned.7) The unit should never be turned off and onagain without a minimum of a 60 secondwait.8) When lighting the appliance, the inside ofthe glass may fog up, this will burn off aftera few minutes of operation.3) Check to ensure there are no gasleaks.4) Make sure the glass door is in place.
