Carefully read all the instructions inthis manual first. Consult the "authority havingjurisdiction" to determine the need for a permit priorto starting the installation. It is the responsibility ofthe installer to ensure this fireplace is installed incompliance with manufacturer's instructions and allapplicable codes.BEFORE YOU STARTSafe installation and operation of this appliancerequires common sense, however, we are requiredby the Canadian Safety Standards and ANSIStandards to make you aware of the following:GENERAL SAFETYINFORMATION1) The appliance installation must conform withlocal codes or, in the absence of local codes,with the current Canadian or National GasCodes, CAN1-B149 or ANSI Z223.1 Installa-tion Codes.2) The appliance when installed, must be electri-cally grounded in accordance with local codes,or in the absence of local codes with the currentNational Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 or CSAC22.1 Canadian Electrical Code.3) See general construction and assembly in-structions. The appliance and vent should beenclosed.4) This appliance must be connected to the speci-fied vent and termination cap to the outside ofthe building envelope. Never vent to anotherroom or inside a building. Make sure that thevent is fitted as per Venting instructions.5) Inspect the venting system annually for block-age and any signs of deterioration.6) Venting terminals shall not be recessed into a wallor siding.7) Any safety glass removed for servicing mustbe replaced prior to operating the appliance.8) To prevent injury, do not allow anyone who isunfamiliar with the operation to use the fireplace.9) Wear gloves and safety glasses for protectionwhile doing required maintenance.10) Be aware of electrical wiring locations in wallsand ceilings when cutting holes for termination.11) Under no circumstances should this appliancebe modified. Parts that have to be removed forservicing should be replaced prior to operatingthis appliance.12) Installation and any repairs to this applianceshould be done by a qualified service person.A professional service person should be calledto inspect this appliance annually.
